About the Role
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will earn while you learn, completing Grad2Teach's Level 4 qualification as the first step towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, career changers, or individuals with relevant experience who are ready to begin a rewarding career in education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of engaging English lessons.
- Working with pupils in small groups and whole-class settings.
- Assisting with literacy development and student progress.
- Developing classroom management skills through practical experience.
- Learning effective teaching strategies under expert mentorship.
- Building the foundations required for progression into independent teaching.
About You
We are looking for a graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, or future educator who:
- Holds a degree in English or a related subject.
- Has a genuine passion for English, literature, language, and education.
- Is enthusiastic about supporting young people to achieve their potential.
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is reliable, professional, and committed to continuous learning.
- Is eager to develop into a qualified English teacher through a structured teacher training programme.
Experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates, teaching assistants, tutors, mentors, and career changers seeking a salaried route into teaching.
Training & Progression
Grad2Teach provides a clear and structured pathway into the teaching profession.
Phase One – Level 4 Qualification
During your first phase, you will:
- Complete the Grad2Teach Level 4 qualification.
- Develop your understanding of effective teaching and learning.
- Gain practical classroom experience within a supportive school environment.
- Build evidence against the Core Content Framework (CCF).
- Develop competencies aligned with the Teachers' Standards.
Phase Two – PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status Route
Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress to:
- Increased classroom responsibility and independent teaching.
- Continued mentoring and instructional coaching.
- PGCE study delivered in partnership with Coventry University.
- Progression towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
