About the Role

Are you a Chemistry graduate, science specialist, or aspiring secondary teacher looking for a salaried route into teaching?

A supportive secondary school in Norfolk is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Chemistry Teacher to join its science department through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical classroom experience while working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.

With Grad2Teach, you will earn while you train, receiving structured support, mentoring, and professional development throughout your journey into teaching.

About the Role

As a Trainee Chemistry Teacher, you will work within a thriving secondary school environment in Norfolk, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 while developing your teaching practice.

This graduate trainee teaching role is ideal for someone passionate about Chemistry education and eager to begin a long-term teaching career through a structured salaried teacher training programme.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting Chemistry lessons and practical science activities
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom management
  • Delivering small group interventions and targeted support
  • Gradually developing independent teaching responsibilities
  • Building classroom confidence through supported teaching practice
  • Working closely with experienced science teachers and mentors

During Phase One, you will gain valuable classroom experience without the pressure of a full teaching timetable.

About You

We are looking for a passionate graduate trainee, aspiring teacher, or career changer who is ready to develop into an outstanding Chemistry teacher.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related science subject
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A genuine passion for science education
  • A commitment to supporting young people’s learning and progress
  • Resilience, professionalism, and enthusiasm
  • A desire to train as a secondary teacher through a salaried route

Previous school experience is helpful but not essential. This opportunity is suitable for graduates, teaching assistants, laboratory technicians, tutors, or professionals looking to transition into education.

Training & Progression

Grad2Teach provides a structured, school-based training pathway designed to develop confident and capable teachers.

Phase One – Level 4 Qualification

During your initial training phase, you will complete a Level 4 qualification while gaining practical classroom experience. Training is aligned with:

  • The Core Content Framework (CCF)
  • Teachers’ Standards
  • Reflective professional practice
  • Behaviour management and lesson planning
  • Safeguarding and inclusion

Phase One allows trainees to build confidence progressively within a supportive school setting.

Phase Two – PGCE and QTS

Successful trainees progress into Phase Two, where they move towards independent teaching while completing a PGCE with Coventry University and achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

You will benefit from:

  • Continued salaried school-based training
  • Mentor observations and coaching
  • University-led professional development
  • A clear pathway into a long-term teaching career
