About the Role
A supportive secondary school in Hampshire is seeking a passionate and creative Graduate Trainee Art Teacher to join their team through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate trainee, aspiring Art teacher, or creative professional looking to begin a rewarding career in education while earning a salary and gaining classroom experience.
Through Grad2Teach, you will follow a structured two-phase teacher training programme designed to support you from classroom support through to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE with Coventry University.
About the Role
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will support Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 while developing the skills, confidence, and professional understanding required to become a qualified teacher.
This salaried teacher training opportunity in Hampshire allows you to:
- Gain hands-on classroom experience in Art education
- Support pupils with practical and creative learning
- Learn behaviour management and lesson-planning techniques
- Train while earning through a school-based programme
- Complete a Level 4 qualification during Phase One
- Progress towards a PGCE with QTS in Phase Two
You will work closely with experienced teachers and mentors while gradually increasing your classroom responsibilities in a supportive school environment.
Grad2Teach’s programme combines practical school experience with structured training aligned to the Core Content Framework (CCF) and Teachers’ Standards.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and creative future teacher who is excited about inspiring young people through Art and design.
The ideal candidate may be:
- A graduate in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration, or a related subject
- GCSEs in Maths and English (at least C/4 or above)
- A career changer with creative industry experience
- An aspiring teacher seeking a salaried route into teaching
- A teaching assistant or cover supervisor ready to progress
You should demonstrate:
- A passion for Art education and creativity
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, resilience, and professionalism
- A willingness to learn and develop as a trainee educator
- Enthusiasm for working with young people in Hampshire schools
Training & Progression
Grad2Teach offers a structured, school-based route into teaching designed to help trainees succeed long term.
Phase One
During Phase One, you will:
- Complete an NCFE Level 4 qualification
- Train outside teaching hours to maximise classroom experience
- Develop skills aligned to the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework
- Build confidence through mentoring, observations, and professional reflection
Phase Two
Having successfully completed Phase One, you can progress into Phase Two where you will:
- Teach more independently with your own timetable
- Work towards a PGCE with Coventry University
- Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Continue receiving mentor and Grad2Teach support throughout training
