About the Role
A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Romford, Essex is seeking a Teach-Ready Trainee Mathematics Teacher to join its successful Maths department through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who is already confident working with young people and is ready to move towards independent classroom teaching. Whether you are an experienced Cover Supervisor, HLTA, Teaching Assistant, unqualified teacher, graduate, or career changer, this role provides a structured and salaried pathway into the teaching profession.
You will support Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, work alongside experienced teachers, and progressively take responsibility for planning and delivering learning. The school is looking for an aspiring teacher who can engage students with Mathematics, build confidence in numeracy, and inspire academic success.
Through Grad2Teach's two-phase programme, you will gain valuable classroom experience while completing structured training aligned to the Teachers' Standards and the Core Content Framework (CCF).
About You
We are looking for a future Mathematics teacher who is:
- A graduate with a Mathematics-related degree or strong Maths background
- Already teach-ready or close to independent teaching
- Experienced working with young people in a school, tutoring, coaching, youth work, or educational setting
- Passionate about Mathematics and helping students achieve their potential
- Confident managing behaviour and leading learning activities

Training & Progression
Phase One – Level 4 Teacher Training
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:
- Earn a salary while training
- Complete an NCFE Level 4 qualification
- Develop practical classroom teaching skills
- Receive support from experienced mentors
- Build evidence against the Teachers' Standards
- Participate in professional development linked to the Core Content Framework
- Gain extensive experience teaching and supporting Mathematics lessons
Phase One allows trainees to develop their confidence and expertise while remaining fully embedded within the school environment.
Phase Two – PGCE with QTS
Following successful completion of Phase One, you will progress to Phase Two where you will:
- Take responsibility for your own Mathematics classes
- Complete a PGCE with Coventry University
- Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Gain 60 Master's level credits
- Continue receiving mentoring and professional support
