About the Role
A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Romford, Essex is seeking a Teach-Ready Trainee Geography Teacher to join its Humanities department through the Grad2Teach salaried teacher training programme.
This opportunity is designed for someone who is already confident working with young people and is ready to move towards independent classroom teaching. Whether you are an experienced Cover Supervisor, HLTA, Teaching Assistant, unqualified teacher, graduate, or career changer, this role offers a structured pathway into the teaching profession while earning a salary.
You will work alongside experienced teachers, support the delivery of engaging Geography lessons, develop your classroom practice, and gradually take responsibility for your own classes. The school is looking for someone who demonstrates strong classroom presence, excellent communication skills, and the potential to become an outstanding Geography teacher.
Through Grad2Teach's two-phase training programme, you will gain practical classroom experience while completing a structured programme aligned to the Teachers' Standards and the Core Content Framework (CCF).
About You
We are looking for an aspiring teacher who is:
- A Geography graduate or holds a degree in a related subject
- Already teach-ready or close to independent teaching
- Experienced working with young people in a school, college, youth work, coaching, or educational setting
- Passionate about Geography and helping students understand the world around them
- Confident managing behaviour and leading learning activities
- Organised, resilient, and eager to develop professionally

Training & Progression
Phase One – Level 4 Teacher Training
As a Phase One Trainee Teacher, you will:
- Earn a salary while training
- Complete an NCFE Level 4 qualification
- Gain extensive classroom experience
- Receive mentor support and coaching
- Develop your understanding of effective teaching practice
- Build evidence against the Teachers' Standards
- Participate in professional development linked to the Core Content Framework
Phase One is designed to prepare trainees for formal Initial Teacher Training while remaining fully embedded within the school environment.
Phase Two – PGCE with QTS
Following successful completion of Phase One, trainees progress to Phase Two where they:
- Teach independently with their own timetable
- Complete a PGCE with Coventry University
- Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Gain 60 Master's level credits
- Continue receiving mentoring and professional support
This provides a clear progression route from aspiring teacher to fully qualified classroom practitioner.
