About the Role

About the Role

A High-Achieving and Inclusive Secondary School in London

This opportunity is based at a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school for students aged 11-18, located in the heart of London. The school serves a diverse and ambitious student population and is committed to academic excellence, inclusion, and the development of well-rounded, future-ready learners.

The school is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join its dedicated staff team. Cover Supervisors play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain engaged, focused, and supported throughout the school day.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates or aspiring teachers who are considering a career in education and want to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing teacher training.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise whole classes across a range of subjects during the short-term absence of teachers
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students remain on task with their learning
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff about student progress and behaviour
  • Support students with questions or clarifications during lessons, as appropriate
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities or interventions when not covering lessons

This is a rewarding and dynamic role that requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and a calm, authoritative presence in the classroom.

Candidate Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (or be working towards one)
  • Be confident working with young people and managing behaviour in a classroom setting
  • Have strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
  • Be adaptable and willing to work across different subject areas
  • Be passionate about education and keen to make a positive impact on students’ learning and well-being

Previous experience working with young people—whether in schools, youth work, sports coaching, or tutoring—is highly desirable but not essential.

Why Apply?

  • Gain first-hand classroom experience in a supportive secondary school environment
  • Build a strong foundation for future teacher training or education careers
  • Work within a committed and collaborative staff team
  • Opportunity to explore different subject areas and teaching styles
  • Make a real difference to students' daily school experience

Whether you're a recent graduate, a career changer, or someone with a passion for working with young people, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a school setting and begin your journey in education.
