About the Role

About the Role:
As a Trainee Engineering Teacher with Grad2Teach, you will use your industry experience to inspire students and teach them the skills they need for a future in engineering and technology. This two-year programme allows you to train on the job while working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

You will:

  • Apply your engineering knowledge to teach students at KS3 to KS5, helping them develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills in areas such as design, manufacturing, and systems.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers to learn classroom management, lesson planning, and teaching methodologies.
  • Follow a structured programme that leads to QTS, with the possibility of securing a permanent teaching position upon completion.
  • Receive ongoing support from professional mentors and Grad2Teach coaches, ensuring you develop the skills needed to become a confident and effective teacher.

What we offer:

  • A salary while you train.
  • Full support in gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through an accredited provider.
  • Access to regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions and training opportunities.
  • A school placement that aligns with your specialism in engineering.
  • Continuous guidance and personalised coaching throughout your teacher training journey.

What we’re looking for:

  • Substantial experience in an engineering field (degree or industry-based qualifications).
  • A passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students in a subject as vital as engineering.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to break down complex concepts and engage students in hands-on learning.
  • A commitment to professional development within a school setting.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and a willingness to complete a two-year training programme.
